Meet The World’s First Smartphone With a Dual FLIP Camera
Just after the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro launch, we found the first rival for the OnePlus 7 Pro. Yes, the well-known Taiwanese brand Asus just launched its new flagship killer, the all-new Asus Zenfone 6, which comes with the world’s first dual flip camera that acts as both rear and front. Moreover, if we talk about its features, let me clarify that the all-new Asus Zenfone 6 features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC and a battery of 5000mAh. But, apart from these the most exciting thing is its flip camera; yes, it is an innovative solution that simultaneously solved the problem of screen notches and low-resolution front cameras. A 6.4-inch NanoEdge screen exclusively features the front with a ratio of 92%, which is protected by the super-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 6. It has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a density of 402dpi. The 100% DCI-P3 color range of cinematic quality and a brightness of up to 600nits makes it easy to read the screen outdoors. Under this display, we find the famous Snapdragon 855 SoC, which is accompanied by the RAM and storage options of 6GB and 8GB; storage of 64GB, 128GB, and 256 GB with the possibility of expansion through MicroSD cards up to 2 TB.
A high-capacity 5000mAh battery provides up to two days of battery life in everyday use and benefits from Qualcomm’s Quick charge 4.0. This is complemented by a rear fingerprint sensor and a renewed user interface ZenUI 6 that comes with greater fluidity, speed, and details as a new color palette for dark mode.
But if the Asus Zenfone 6 stands out for something different, it is only because of the rotating flip camera that the device achieves its segment in the smartphone market.
Dual Flip Camera
The outstanding feature of the Asus Zenfone 6 is its double flip camera which can be used both rear and front. This innovative feature of the Zenfone 6 allows one to use the entire front screen of the smartphone and boasts a front camera of the same quality as the back camera. It is made of liquid metal and is accompanied by a G-sensor that detects a fall and protects the camera by transforming it into a safe position. And the most exciting thing is to prove its reliability; this system has been tested 100,000 times.
The rotating dual flip camera module comprises a Sony IMX586 primary sensor of 48MP and a secondary camera of 13MP. The camera uses Quad Bayer technology to improve the quality of photography day and night and is supported by a 2×1 OCL PDAF autofocus system. And not only that, even it can record videos in 4K at 60fps, and this dual flip camera is driven by a specific precision motor that helps it rotate the module at a 180-degree angle to change the cameras from back to front. It can also be used in any intermediate position, allowing users to take professional-quality photos from any angle, as we can do so by adjusting the camera’s part using smartphone software.
What about the price and availability?
As we already said, a version with 8GB of RAM and 64GB or 256 GB of storage will not reach all countries. The all-new ASUS ZenFone 6 is available in black and silver via the ASUS eShop, while in India, it will soon arrive on Flipkart. At the same time, its price is expected to be about $625.
