In order to bring the PvP part of the game to the fans sooner, the development team has decided to refocus and decouple it from the PvE part.
As an effect, as explained by game director Aaron Keller, internal testing on PvP is beginning and a beta is going to be made available to players in late April. You can already register here.
The beta will feature 5v5 gameplay and will include the new hero, Sojourn.
Four new maps include Circuit Royal (Escort), Midtown (Hybrid), New Queen Street, and Colosseo. The last two will be for a new mode named “Push” which will also be included in the beta.
Some heroes will be reworked, including Orisa, Doomfist, Bastion, and Sombra, and a new ping system will be introduced.
Keller also apologized for the lacking communication and the scarcity of updates for the game over the past several months, and promised that the change in focus will address both issues, bringing both much tighter communication and a lot more content quicker.
