Samsung Phones Have Faster Download Speeds Than iPhones
Well, if we look around, we will find that 5G is just starting to roll out. 4G LTE has been around for a while now, and it provides users decent internet speeds. However, it looks like your phone model can also affect internet speed. The recent reports from OpenSignal claim that Samsung smartphone users have experienced faster download speeds in almost 40 countries. OpenSignal analyzed over 23 million devices from across 72 countries from April to June in 2019. You won’t believe it, but in the US, Samsung users have experienced a download speed of 8.2 Mbps faster than the iPhone. On Norway, Samsung users have recorded 12 Mbps faster speed than Huawei users and 14 Mbps faster than iPhone users. In total, the study found that Samsung had faster download speeds in 35% of the 40 countries analyzed. beating out Apple, which achieved faster speeds in just 17.5% of the countries. However, OpenSignal does point out that slower download speeds in Apple devices could be because of the weak smartphone market in that specific county. It’s worth to note that there are other factors that affect download speeds such as the ability to connect to more frequency bands, the ability to connect to multiple radio bands simultaneously, multiple antennas, etc. OpenSignal also divided smartphone users into the top, mid, and low tier based on network capabilities, and Samsung phones have recorded the highest download speeds in the top-tier. The mid-tier Apple users have recorded slightly better download speed compared to Huawei and Samsung, but the study notes that all mid-end Apple devices were priced similarly to Samsung and Huawei high-end phones.
